Chennai – Kanchipuram – Mahabalipuram – Pondicherry – Tanjore – Trichy – Madurai 9N/10D

Day 01: Chennai

Arrive Chennai – the gateway to southern India, established in 1639 by the East India Company, is one of the oldest cities of the country. Assistance and transfer to hotel. After lunch at hotel, half day sightseeing tour, visiting Gandhi Memorial, Kala Kshetra, Mylapore Temple and marine beach. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Chennai – Kanchipuram – Mahabalipuram

After breakfast drive to Mahabalipuram via Kanchipuram – is the ancient capital of the Pallavas famous as city of 1000 temples and still has 124 shrines. The first temple dedicated to Shiva was built in the 7th and 8th century and has painting on the walls. Temples of Ekambaswara, Kailasanatha, Sri Kamakshi and Varadarajaswamy are of interest. Kanchipuram is also famous for its silks. Lunch at local restaurant and later drive to Mamallapuram check in to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 03: Mahabalipuram

After breakfast, enjoy a morning’s sightseeing around Mahabalipuram; visit the shore temple, Trimurti cave temple, Arjuna’s penance, five Rathas and sculpture museum. Afternoon free at the beach with option to visit Dakshinachitra cultural centre. Overnight at Mahabalipuram.

Day 04: Mahabalipuram – Pondicherry (160 km)

Today we drive to Pondicherry at a distance of 162km. after we reach we embark on half day city tour to Aurobindo Ashram, you will be transported to world of bliss and peace. Here the day starts with meditation and visitors are allowed to take a look of Sri Aurobindo and his chief disciple mother’s room. You will also visit the Pondicherry museum where among the artifacts you will see the discoveries of Arikamedu, Chola bronze items. You spend the night at Pondicherry.

Day 05: Pondicherry

Today day free for leisure. Relax on the beautiful beaches of Pondicherry. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 06: Pondicherry – Tanjore (170km)

After breakfast drive to Tanjore and on the way visit Chidambaram Nataraj temple and Gangakondacholapuram Temple. Upon arrival at Tanjore, check in hotel. Overnight in Tanjore.

Day 07: Tanjore – Trichy (70km)

After breakfast visit palace, Art Gallery, and museum. Later in the day you will visit Brihadewswara temple also known as the big temple, built by the Chola dynasty. This massive temple is 216 feet high and the single Spherical stone on top weights 80tonnes. This is a UNESCO world heritage listed monument. Later drive to Trichy and check in at your hotel. In the evening you can visit Srirangam temple, one of the largest temple complexes in all of India. Overnight in Trichy.

Day 08: Trichy – Madurai (130 km)

This morning enjoy the half day sightseeing of Trichy then drive to Madurai. Check in at hotel. In the afternoon you will visit the famous Shree Meenakshi Amman temple, Thirumalai Nayakiar palace and Marie Amman Tank. Overnight at Madurai.

Day 09: Madurai

Morning sightseeing of Madurai includes Madurai Meenakshi temple and the Thirumalai Nayak palace. Overnight at Madurai.

Day 10: Madurai Departure

After breakfast checkout from hotel and drive to Madurai airport/railway station in time to connect your departure flight/train.

UNSEEN TAMIL NADU 7N / 8D Chennai – Mahabalipuram – Pondicherry – Tanjore – Trichy – Madurai

Day 01: Chennai -Mahabalipuram ( 60 kms) -

Arrive Chennai airport and directly proceed to Mahabalipuram. Arrive & check-in. Late afternoon visit Shore Temple in the evening. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Mahabalipura, -

Pondicherry (100 kms) - After breakfast, depart by surface to Pondicherry. Arrive & check-in at hotel. Afternoon visit Aurobindo Ashram. Overnight at hotel

Day 03: Pondicherry -

After breakfast, proceed for half day sightseeing tour of Pondicherry visiting Auroville "City of Dawan". Visit the Matrimandir - which has been acclaimed as the outstanding, original architectural achievement. Return back to the hotel. Evening walk thorugh Promonede beach. Overnight at hotel

Day 04: Pondicherry -

Chidambaram -Thanjavur (175 kms) - After breakfast, depart by surface to Thanjavur enroute visiting Chidambaram. Chidambaram is one of the foremost Saivite shrines; the very name Kovil refers to Chidambaram, where Nataraja is enshrined in the Hall of Consciousness. Have darshan at Sivakami Amman Temple . Arrive Thanjavur and visit Brihadeeshwara Temple. Brihadeeshwara Temple (World Heritage Site), built in 10th century is the grandest architectural achievement of the Chola era. Overnight at hotel

Day 05: Thanjavur -Trichy -

After breakfast, proceed for an excursion to Trichy (approx 54 kms/1 hr). Visit Rock Fort temple, which is a prominent landmark of the city. Later tour of Srirangam island. Return to Thanjavur in the evening. Overnight at hotel

Day 06: Thanjavur - Madurai (158 kms) -

After breakfast, depart by surface to Madurai. Arrive & check-in. Afternoon visit Sri Meenakshi Temple & Tirumalai Nayak palace. Overnight at hotel

Day 07: Madurai -

After breakfast, full day excursion to Rameshwaram, situated 160 kms from Madurai. It is home to Ramanathaswamy Shiva temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples in India. It is believed that from Rameshwaram, Lord Rama built a bridge across the sea to Sri Lanka where he fought a batter with Ravana in one of the epic battles of the Ramayana. Evening return back to hotel. Overnight at hotel

Day 08: Madurai -

After breakfast, transfer to Madurai airport for the onward journey
